Judge Jock Zonfrillo of MasterChef Australia passes away at 46.

Jock Zonfrillo, a well-known chef and MasterChef Australia judge, has passed away at the age of 46.

Zonfrillo passed on in Melbourne on Sunday, MasterChef Australia affirmed on Monday evening.

A statement from the show stated, "Network 10 and Endemol Shine Australia are deeply shocked and saddened at the sudden loss of Jock Zonfrillo, a beloved member of the MasterChef family."

"Jock was known to Australians as a chef, best-selling author, philanthropist, and MasterChef judge, but he will be remembered most for being a loving father, husband, brother, and son," according to the article.

Zonfrillo was born in Glasgow to a Scottish father and Italian mother. Before joining MasterChef in 2019, he ran renowned eateries in Sydney and Adelaide.

Alongside Melissa Leong and Andy Allen, he supplanted the show's unique hosts Matt Preston, George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan.

His family made an announcement on Zonfrillo's own Facebook page, honoring him and calling for security: " We are devastated to report that Jock passed away yesterday. Our hearts are completely broken and we do not know how we will survive life without him.

"There are so many stories and words that could be used to describe him, but at this point, we are too overwhelmed to put them into words.

"When you have your next whisky, keep this proud Scot in your hearts for those who crossed his path, became his mate, or were fortunate enough to be his family."

MasterChef Australia was scheduled to air its 15th season on Monday night, but Endemol Shine Australia and Network 10 have confirmed that the show will not air this week.
